About
About my work
My private practice is centred on psychoanalysis. I also draw on my background in clinical psychology in the supervision, consultation and teaching I offer to clinicians and organisations.

Psychoanalytic formation
I completed my training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the Freudian Group of Tehran between 2013 and 2021. The programme included theoretical seminars, supervised clinical work and personal analysis. During the final two years, I also taught Freud to newer trainees.
Since 2024 I have undertaken further psychoanalytic training at the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR) in London. My approach is particularly informed by Lacanian psychoanalysis. Ongoing supervision, study and personal analysis remain integral to my practice.
Clinical psychology
I began clinical work in Iran in 2010. I hold a doctorate in psychology from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and a master’s degree in clinical psychology. My experience includes private practice, prison services, acute adult inpatient care, rehabilitation and acute services.
In Iran I founded and led a community psychological service, where I provided longer-term psychotherapy and supervised other clinicians. In the UK I have led psychology provision within adult inpatient services and worked closely with multidisciplinary teams on formulation, risk and treatment planning.
This work has also included service development, staff consultation, supervision and teaching.
Teaching and working with texts
I have taught clinical psychology at university level and psychoanalytic theory and practice to clinicians and trainees. Recent teaching has covered Freud and Lacan.
I helped found Afrah, a group devoted to reading and translating Lacan into Persian, and contributed directly and regularly to translations of his first four seminars.
Work with clinicians and organisations
My work in clinical psychology has involved understanding a person’s difficulties in the context of their history, relationships, physical health and current circumstances. In institutional settings, this also means considering how the organisation of care affects patients and the staff working with them.
I bring this experience to consultation on complex adult presentations, psychological formulation, risk and multidisciplinary working. Psychoanalytic supervision offers a more focused examination of the clinical encounter and the practitioner’s interventions. The purpose and scope of each kind of work are agreed at the outset.
Group therapy
I also offer group therapy for adults. A group gives participants the opportunity to speak about their difficulties, hear how others respond, and consider what happens in their relationships within the group. The interactions between members form part of the therapeutic work.
The purpose of the group, who it is intended for, the setting and the arrangements for joining are discussed before participation. You can enquire about group therapy for yourself or in relation to a service or organisation.
